In life, as with hiking, things are found along the way. Below is a good idea list (ideas, some fun, quotes, etc.) with some of those discoveries. Using the blog’s themes, check out the resources below.* And have a great month!
Nothing Wasted Life Quote:
The story of Jesus is one of coming into lives and disrupting the rhythm, the well-worn path; bringing something new. Source by Andy LePeau
Extra: Just for Fun
Lost some of the “bigness” of God? This universe video will blow your mind in realizing how big it is — and the Creator is greater than His creation.
Theology & Spiritual Life
- Time with God in Silence: A Jewish acapella group, the Maccabeats, provide a good visual and musical reflection on the Sabbath using a re-worded “Sound of Silence”. Good message for consideration in our busy world.
- Work as Worship: One of the challenges of life (and part of a Nothing Wasted Life) is living the “everyday” stuff with a sense of God’s presence. This is a good article whose pragmatic title tells it all: Here’s How You Can Develop a “Work as Worship” Mindset.
Wise Living/Productivity
- Shoes that Fit: On a lighter note, if you ever had shoes that didn’t fit well, you know that wisdom in this is good. So here is How to Choose Shoes That Fit Perfectly.
- Good Habits with Email: Part of a Nothing Wasted Life is using tools well. In this post by Professor Thomas Kidd, he has some good conversation and critiques around email as well as Cal Newport’s recent work on this (who is another good voice in use of tools).
Relationships
- Trend — Middle-Aged Men’s Loneliness: While I didn’t know it was a trend, it makes sense. Here is an interview on the trend of middle-aged men’s loneliness. This podcast explores how to make friends (especially “shoulder-to-shoulder” expressions of male friendship). Good author story. Helpful tips. Honest reflections. Interesting health impacts of loneliness.
- Practical Ideas to Make Money: This isn’t just to get more but it’s good to remember that money issues are a leading cause of conflict in relationships, especially in marriage. This short article offers some practical ideas on how to address them and may help get some brainstorming going for you — or someone you love or serve.
Leadership (self or others)
- Before leading others, lead yourself. Bringing your best is not always about skills but about timing. I found this article interesting with research-based tips on when to do things with interesting comments on eating, what the most important event of the day is, and four others.
- Mission Statement or Vision Statement?: The difference between these can be unclear to many but this may help in defining it better.

There’s so many interesting links on here. For starters, through the universe link I was challenged to comprehend the massiveness of planets and space distances. I mean I get it in concept but found it awe- inspiring and mysterious for my brain that thinks a flight to the other side of the globe is a long way. I think there’s a hint of God in the awe and mystery.
Thanks for collecting & sharing these links!
I find those kind of things helpful too. It’s good when we can catch moments of worship even in a random YouTube video. Great to hear your thoughts too!
